In the first books, the Dursleys send Christmas presents to Harry while he stays at Hogwarts, but they're impressively bad, and Harry describes this as “an all-time low”. It's also one of the many times Harry gets candy gifts and, as a Christmas tradition, it's charming. In 1996, before the Christmas holidays officially began, Professor Slughorn organized a Christmas party for the members of the Slug Club and their guests. A single handkerchief, this is a gift designed to show Harry how little he cares, and it's also the last gift Harry gets from them.
